LEGO and VEX IQ Robots
In this 5-day session, students design, build and program robots using a Hummingbird Duo robot kit.  This kit is ideal for creating unique contraptions and robots from craft materials like cardboard, wood, plastic, foam board, construction paper, markers, and glue.  It includes motors, servos, lights, and sensors to make your creations dynamic and interactive.  Examples of projects include robot creatures or pets, an automated alarm system, or a pinball game with flippers and flashing lights.

The Hummingbird Duo contains an Arduino Leonardo microcontroller board, and includes extra components for directly controlling servos and motors, and it has easy-to-use terminal blocks that allow connecting wires without soldering or crimping.

Like all Arduino microcontrollers, there are several programming options for the Hummingbird Duo.  In thiks camp we will start with Scratch and Ardublock.   Advanced students will have the opportunity to program in C++ using the standard Arduino IDE.

This class is recommended for ages 8 to 14.   This is a full day session.  Hummingbird Duo kits, craft materials, and computers are provided for use during camp.  Students should bring a lunch.  Morning and afternoon snacks are provided.

You will have the option to purchase the Hummingbird Duo kit parts so your can take home your completed project and reuse the kit to make other projects. You will save $5 if you purchase the kit now for $150 with your camp registration.   (Or you can later choose to pay $155 to keep the robot kit at the end of camp, still a discount off the retail price.)
